What We Do
Municipal Shared Services, South Shore Region provides essential internal services that help our member municipalities operate efficiently and consistently. Our organization was incorporated in 2013 under the name of Municipal Joint Services Board, Lunenburg Region and began with Waste Management. In 2015 we introduced the Information Technology (IT) shared service, followed by Human Resources (HR) in 2019. More recently, our offering expanded to include Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) in 2024 and Procurement in 2025.
Why It Works
By centralizing these functions, we enable each municipality to focus on delivering front-line services while benefiting from shared expertise, standardized practices, and coordinated service delivery. Our model strengthens municipal capacity by:
- Leveraging specialized staff across multiple municipalities,
- Providing consistent policies and service frameworks,
- Supporting compliance, risk management, operational and budget planning,
- Enabling smarter collaboration without compromising local decision making.
